PhD in Language

The PhD in English language is designed to be a three-year (full-time) or a five year (part-time) programme. 

- The programme of study, which shall primarily be by research, shall be approved by the Board guided by the provisions of the Regulations governing Graduate Degrees.

- Research for the degree of PhD in English language shall normally include theoretical, analytical, and/or experimental investigations with a view to furthering knowledge and/or understanding in the proposed field. 

- A candidate may be required to attend courses in the general field of knowledge within which his/her proposed research falls. 

Admission Requirements 

There shall be two channels of admission to the PhD degree

- Channel I: By direct admission

-Channel II: By advancement from MPhil to the PhD programme
